the vision
I customized a pair of Adidas sneakers with a hand-embroidered and beaded ribbon motif that flows asymmetrically across both shoes. This design merges sport and luxury by blending structured streetwear with intricate, couture-inspired embellishment. The process combined traditional hand-sewing and beadwork techniques with modern footwear design, resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece that explores color, texture, movement, and contrast on an unconventional canvas.
The PROCESS
Each shape was recreated as an embroidered patch, then heavily embellished on an embroidery hoop using a variety of specialty beads and translucent sequins to create a highly dimensional, almost coral reef–like texture. Bead tassels of varying lengths, sizes, and materials add movement and catch the light, giving the finished design a subtle glow in sunlight. After edge-finishing each patch, I adhered them one by one to the sneakers, creating a fully custom, hand-crafted surface treatment that transforms the footwear into a unique fusion of textile art and streetwear design.
